Webinar: Farmers as Advocates

Co-hosted by the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future and featuring the West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition, Johnson County Food Policy Council, and Rural Vermont.

This webinar focuses on the power of the individual voice of farmers telling their stories in support of food and farm policy change. Join us for a conversation with farmers about the value of farmers as members of food and farm coalitions, what motivates farmers to engage in local and state level policy advocacy, what to consider to engage farmers in long-term, policy advocacy, and how to successfully build the capacity of farmers to be advocates. Themes include: the power of the stakeholder voice, engaging farmers as a long-term strategy, mobilization of farmers at local and state levels, cultural/political considerations of farmer engagement and how to overcome these issues, capacity issues, and training needs.
