Food Bank Farm Lease Opportunity
The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has a great opportunity for an organic minimal till farmer on our second Food Bank Farm in Hadley, Massachusetts. Under an Agricultural Preservation Restriction, this farm possesses 40+ tillable acres most of which is leased to established organic farmers.
We seek an experienced farmer who wishes to lease 2+ acres of fertile farmland with 100+ 100’ permanent beds that have been in production for four years. We are looking for a land steward who is passionate about minimal till farming and who would be excited to build on the hard work that has made this parcel so productive.
The annual lease fee will be $650 per acre. This lease includes:
- Access to our tools and BCS walk-behind tractor
- Barn storage space, utilities, irrigation, drip tape & some greenhouse space
- Tractor support is available at cost
- Additional acreage will be available for lease in subsequent years
This farm parcel would be great for a market garden style farm, a CSA enterprise, farmstand, wholesaler or mix of all the above.
The Food Bank is stepping back from minimal till farming on this parcel as we shift our priorities on the farm to producing as much food as possible for people who live with food insecurity.
