Hiring: Agriculture Program Director – Trustees of Reservations
The Trustees of Reservations (The Trustees) is Massachusetts’ oldest and largest land conservation organization and has worked since 1891 to protect the special places of Massachusetts for public use and enjoyment. The Trustees Agriculture Program Director (APD) shapes and implements the vision, goals, growth, and policies for the Trustees Agriculture Program. The APD provides strategic oversight and management of Trustees vegetable and livestock operations on six Trustees-owned and operated farms, including supervision of program managers, budget development and management, and enterprise and strategic planning. To this end, the APD supervises a Vegetable & CSA Program Manager and a Livestock Program Manager, and oversees a team of 10+ full-time, year-round staff and 20+ seasonal staff that comprise the Agriculture Program. The APD oversees operating and project budgets that total over $1.5M. The APD also works closely with colleagues implementing public and educational programs on Trustees farms to ensure the success of these programs. Additional responsibilities include supporting Trustees food access work, activation of Trustees-owned farmland through land leases and other partnerships, developing internal standards and best practices, fundraising and development activities, and public policy advocacy in partnership with other regional collaborators. The APD serves as the central strategist for agriculture at The Trustees and provides leadership in the implementation of the Trustees agricultural vision in the context of the Trustees strategic plan. The APD serves as the face of the Trustees Agriculture Program internally and externally and has a unique opportunity to shape the future of the Agriculture Program at the Trustees.
This is a year-round, salaried position with benefits. The position is based out of the Trustees office in downtown Boston, with regular travel throughout the state.
