Assistant Farm Manager

Full-time position

Northfield Mount Hermon, an independent co-educational boarding school in western Massachusetts, seeks an energetic individual with agricultural experience to assist with all duties associated with operating a small scale, educational farm.

The position’s responsibilities include low-till, organic vegetable production, maple sugaring, overall farm maintenance, and support of academic and cocurricular activities. This position will work closely with students and will be responsible for supervising students in the work program. This position will also play an essential role in the reintroduction of livestock to the farm in 2025.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in agriculture, outdoor education or equivalent experience.  Vegetable production experience and/or maple sugaring experience is a plus. Essential qualifications include the ability to lead and supervise volunteers and student groups, as well as work independently.  This position requires the ability to do heavy lifting and to work the long hours in all weather conditions associated with farming.  Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.  Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently.  Some weekend and evening work required.

Rate of pay: $20/hour
