Job Title: Assistant Flower Grower
Reports to: Flower Manager
Hours: 20–25 hours/week, additional hours with the vegetable crew are available for candidates seeking
full time employment.
Position Period: Flexible start and end dates, must be available June 12 th –October 20 th
Compensation: $15–$17/hour, depending on experience, $200 gear stipend, CSA flower and vegetable
share

Farm Overview
We are a for–profit, certified organic, family owned and operated farm, managed by two experienced
owner/operators. We distribute to 450 member families through a year–round CSA, our primary outlet.
We attend one summer farmers market, work with several wholesale partners, sell 120 bouquets/week
from July to October and sell over 1000 flats of certified organic seedlings at our spring seedling sale.

Job Summary
Assist the Flower Manager in all areas of flower production, harvest and packing/arranging for multiple
outlets including CSA, farm stand, farmer’s markets, wholesale accounts, special orders, and on–farm
events. While we work with gorgeous flowers and create beautiful bouquets, we are still farming and
this position is fast–paced and physically demanding.
Responsibilities
– Some limited greenhouse seeding, thinning, and potting up
– Preparation of no–till flower beds and maintenance of landscape fabric and drip irrigation
– Transplanting seedlings into the field by hand or riding on a transplanter
– Weeding, trellising, pinching, deadheading, and general maintenance of healthy flower beds
– Harvesting flowers as trained, with proper stem–length, while following a pick sheet
– Participate in accurate record keeping
– Assembling bouquets several times a week for several hours at a time
– Organizing and assembling flower buckets for harvest and distribution
– Communicating with wash/pack and distribution team regarding cooler organization and proper
distribution of flowers to various outlets.
– Maintaining an organized and clean flower space, maintaining tools, and washing and labeling
flower buckets
Minimum Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have 1–2 years of farming experience, and some experience harvesting and/or
arranging flowers. We are willing to train the right person.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
– Must have a strong interest in flower farming with a willingness to learn the specifics of care and
harvest for all flower varieties we grow
– Ability to take direction, ask for help, and accept constructive feedback
– Ability to work well independently, one–on–one, and as part of a larger team
– Strong communication and teamwork skills, positive attitude, and able to shift quickly and
smoothly between tasks
– Discipline to finish tasks to the fullest level of quality while understanding how to prioritize with
a sense of urgency
– Keen observational skills with a high level of focus and organization, and an eye for detail
– Some artistic ability in terms of color and form for creating bouquets
– Ability to perform repetitive work in inclement weather of all kinds
– Ability to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet for hours at a time
