Hiring: Community Herbalist/Apothecary Coordinator – People’s Medicine Project

Community Herbalist/Apothecary Coordinator for People’s Medicine Project

People’s Medicine Project is a small health justice organization seeking to increase access to complementary healthcare and plant medicine. Our umbrella organization is the Western MA Training Consortium.

PMP seeks an organized, mature, flexible, team-player to fulfill our Community Herbalist position. We are looking for someone who is interested in problem solving and taking initiative to fulfill organizational/ mission-based needs related to plant medicine. We seek someone who is an excellent communicator, can self-reflect and be accountable; can work independently, take direction, and offer mutuality and synergistic value to our team and mission.

The Community Herbalist position starts at 5-10 hours/ week, with the immediate and primary focus on apothecary coordination. PMP’s garden grows the herbs; and the PMP apothecary processes teas, tinctures, and salves to stock our free clinics and distribution events. The apothecary coordinator holds the functionality of PMP’s apothecary to ensure that program needs are fulfilled. The apothecary coordinator also manages apothecary volunteers to complete tasks.

With the right fit, this independent contractor position has the potential to grow, as PMP continues to deepen into our mission and expand programming. Ideally, this person will be experienced with medicine-making, teaching about plants and wellness, basic technology, creating and maintaining organizational systems and spaces, volunteer leadership, community service work, and herb gardening.

This is an independent contractor position, starting at $21-$23/hour depending on experience. Start date will be determined upon hiring, likely to start late summer.
