Hiring: Crew Member – Astarte Farm

Job Description: Astarte Farm in Hadley, MA, is hiring full-time crew members for the 2020 growing season. Come join the team on our beautiful 3.5-acre, certified organic, no-till/no-spray, market-garden. Astarte Farm is one of the Pioneer Valley’s first 100 percent no-till commercial growers, with a strong emphasis on creating pollinator/predator habitats. Crew members will gain extensive experience with all aspects of greenhouse and field production, including but not limited to: seeding, transplanting, weeding, pruning, trellising, harvesting, and all wash/pack house operations essential for deliveries to local markets. This is a FULL-TIME position (40hr/week), in which crew members will be expected to work cohesively within a small team, led by the Production Manager, to maintain quality, efficiency, sustainability, and food-safety standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates clear communication skills, has the ability to follow instructions and work in a group, is self-motivated, and has strong attention to detail. Additionally, applicants must be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and be content to work outside in all types of weather. Please keep in mind that weekend work is likely. Applicants with one year or more relevant experience will be given priority.
Start Date & Compensation: Applicants will be expected to start full-time April 1st (depending on weather), with the possibility for part-time work throughout March. Hourly rate of $12+ depending on applicant’s experience and qualifications.
