Hiring: Farm Hand – Quonquont Farm
FARM HAND
Reports to: Vegetable Manager
Hours: Full-time or part-time, non-exempt, seasonal or year-round
Function: Responsible for assisting with all farm and orchard operations.

Responsibilities:
- Plants, prunes, harvests, mows, thins, trims, weeds, trellises, mulches, applies nutrients, scouts for pests, and otherwise cares for all fruit, flower, and vegetable crops.
- Washes, packs, stores, and transports harvested crops.
- Cares for livestock, including feeding, watering, moving, cleaning, and egg-
collecting. - Upholds food safety standards and maintains appropriate cleaning and sanitizing logs.
- Safely operates and maintains farm equipment, tools, and vehicles.
- Keeps all farm buildings neat and orderly, inside and out.
- Maintains a neat landscape around farm buildings.
- Removes snow.
- Combats invasive plants through hand-pulling or cutting.
- Provides logistical support for events, including moving furniture and
decorations, cleaning, lawn care, or any other duties that help make events run smoothly. - Participates in annual Worker Protection Standard training for all agricultural
workers. - Represents Quonquont Farm in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age and have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Must be willing to work irregular hours (especially early mornings), at least one weekend day, and some holidays.
- Requires using tools, and standing, bending, or kneeling for up to four hours without break.
- Requires working long hours outdoors in all weather, including heat, cold, sun, snow, and rain.
- While performing this job, the employee will regularly be required to use hands and arms to reach and grasp to hold products, supplies, and tools; to talk and speak clearly to customers and co-workers; and to hear questions and machinery.
- This job requires a great deal of standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, and general mobility throughout the day. It includes the ability to lift, carry, and push items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the workday.
- Allergic conditions, which could be aggravated when handling or working indoors or outdoors with plants or chemicals, may be a disqualification.
Starting Pay Range:
New employees will start at $16.50 to $17.50, depending on farm work experience and ability to drive a standard shift vehicle.
