Farm Mechanic and Equipment Operator

Atlas Farm is a 95 acre, certified organic vegetable farm located in Deerfield, Massachusetts. We are hiring for a Farm Mechanic and Equipment Operator to start immediately. Responsibilities include maintenance and repair of farm machinery including trucks, tractors, and tractor implements, in addition to some equipment operation. This position involves maintaining service records for all equipment, managing shop supplies, maintaining shop tools and equipment, light metal fabrication, troubleshooting maintenance and repair issues, equipment operation during the busy field production season and “handyman” work on farm buildings. Applicants should have experience with tractors and vegetable farming equipment, metal fabrication, and familiarity with diesel engines and shop tools. Carpentry, plumbing, and electrical experience are also desired. This is a position requiring close attention to detail, an aptitude for record keeping, good communication skills, and a flexible schedule. The position is full time, year round, requiring long hours (50+) during the main field season of April-November and fewer hours per week from December-March. The normal work week is Monday-Friday, but some weekend hours will be required. Applicants should have a desire for long-term employment. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
