Hiring: Field Crew – Red Fire Farm

Red Fire Farm, a leader in organic veggie production, is looking for healthy, happy, hardworking individuals to join its power crew of harvesters in beautiful Montague, Massachusetts this season. This is a part time position on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 7 am – 6 pm with  a one hour lunch break. Candidates should have at least a year of previous farming experience and must be passionate about changing the food system. Pay is $10/hr, plus unlimited access to our produce, and twice weekly farm lunch served from June-October.

 

Red Fire has 100 acres in cultivation. We grow just about every veggie that can be grown in this climate; this season we’re expanding our operation to include ginger, shitakes and tree fruit. Our main business is CSA: we have 1,500+ members around the state. But we also sell produce at our farm stands, farmers markets and to wholesale customers big and small, including Wegman’s supermarket chain. We are dedicated to a seriously high quality product and hold a deep belief in organic practices. We’re a large production farm with the heart and soul of a tiny operation.

  

We hire only domestic workers on our farm and many members of our crew tend to be recent graduates from the five colleges in the Pioneer Valley. It’s a warm, wonderful family. This is a farm where you can take on a good deal of responsibility fairly quickly, if you want it; you can grow into a leadership position and have a real stake in helping us refine the work we do. Our goal is to make this farming thing truly sustainable — for everyone involved!
