Hiring: Finance & Administrative Director – NOFA/Mass
Hours: 25–30 hours per week

Location: Remote, but must collect mail from our Worcester, MA PO Box at least once/wk.
Opportunity:
NOFA/Mass seeks a knowledgeable, organized, self-starting and growth oriented person to help grow and maintain our financial and administrative systems by ensuring sound financial management and transparency. This position oversees all aspects of the financial and administrative systems and works closely with the whole staff to provide support and ensure financial and administrative best practices. This position reports to executive leadership and the Board Treasurer and is tasked with communicating our financial position to the board on a monthly basis.
Responsibilities
Financial Management 50%
- Manage and perform day to day financial operations including liaising with external bookkeeper to process accounts payable, donations, accounts receivable, payroll, etc.
- Implement and uphold financial policies
- Monitor cash flow positions and projections to ensure adequate operating funds
- Collaborate with program managers, Development team and Executive Leadership to develop a realistic and achievable annual budget.
- Coordinate annual audit process, including liaising with external auditors.
- Generate and present monthly, quarterly and annual reports and financial analysis to Executive leadership, the Financial Committee and Board of Directors.
- Receive and process mail and bank deposits.
Grant & Program Management 25%
- Work with Development and program staff to prepare budgets for grant proposals and programs to ensure budgets support organizational and funding goals.
- Support staff in generating reports from Quickbooks and maintaining adequate records of spending for grant and audit purposes.
- Work with program staff to optimize budgets and spending.
Personnel/HR 25%
- Manage and Coordinate staff hiring, onboarding and offboarding, and changes in payroll.
- Work with Department Directors to implement annual reviews.
- Work with Executive Leadership and Administrative staff to maintain and update employee handbook and personnel policy.
- Coordinate long-term talent retention goals and work with executive leadership to budget for and implement these goals.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years in a financial management or accounting position at a nonprofit organization or equivalent experience
- Experience with quickbooks
- Experience with HR & Personnel management
- Comfortable working with Google Drive
- Willingness to learn and grow
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
- Interest in local Agriculture and Food Systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing a team
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM database
- Farming/Agricultural experience
Other position information:
- This job can generally be accomplished from home. Employee must provide basic office equipment to facilitate working remotely.
- Flexible hours, but must work the majority of hours within EST business hours.
- Employee must attend NOFA/Mass retreats, staff meetings, and conferences.
Compensation
- $30-$35/hour based on experience.
- Monthly stipend for internet & phone.
- Annual stipends for professional development and technology.
- Two weeks of paid vacation days during the first year of employment, office closure during the December Holiday week, 11 paid Federal holidays
