Hiring: Floor Manager at Quabbin Harvest
Quabbin Harvest is seeking a Floor Manager to take charge of key aspects of our store operations in alignment with our mission and our small team of dedicated part-time staff. We sell a range of grocery options and prepared foods, with an emphasis on local and farm-fresh products. Through a number of partnership programs and volunteer efforts, we also distribute healthy food to low-income community members. We strive to be a vibrant economic node in the center of Orange, Massachusetts and to be a resource for everyone in the nine-town North Quabbin region. Quabbin Harvest is a co-operative business owned by its 1000+ members and governed democratically by an elected board of directors. We are proud to be part of the work of building a strong local and regional food system that serves everyone fairly and nurtures the health of our community and the land.
The Floor Manager provides day-to-day supervision of store operations including:
- Staff supervision, hiring, training, and review
- Assures day to day staff coverage
- Is the central point of communication, delegating when appropriate
- Some vendor relations
- In-store merchandising
- Oversight of technological and facilities systems
- Is available for occasional after hours contact with vendors and staff to respond to emerging needs
The Floor Manager is actively involved in co-op meetings:
- Attends weekly Operations Team meetings
- Attends monthly Board meetings
- Coordinates and leads quarterly Staff and Operations meetings
- Attends other meetings as needed
The Floor Manager participates in administrative activities:
- Works as a member of the Operations Team to track weekly sales, manage A/P, identify and respond to emerging needs
- Maintains appropriate Town licensure including Business License, Board of Health permits and other legally required documentation
- Maintains ServSafe and Allergen Awareness Certifications
This position is for 25 hours a week at $25 per hour. Hours are negotiable and flexibility is a plus.

- Retail grocery experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Competence with common computer programs (eg Google Drive, Gmail, Canva, Microsoft Office)
