Hiring: Fruit Assistant – Quonquont Farm

Are you the kind of person who thinks there’s no such thing as a bad day spent outdoors? Do you believe there’s nothing better than fresh fruit straight from the tree? Well, we might just have the perfect job for you!

Our full-time, seasonal (early May through mid-to-late November) fruit assistant will help us grow our blueberry, raspberry, peach, and apple crops. You’ll help us tend our orchards throughout the season, pick fruit, and get into the daily nitty gritty of keeping the orchards running and the farm looking tip top. You might even pitch in at the farm store and help our guests find their way around.

We’re not going to shine you on: this is often hard, physical work. If you get bored easily or fret about bees and splinters, this isn’t for you. But if you get jazzed about local food, live to create order out of chaos, and like falling into bed at the end of the day knowing you did something worthwhile, fruit growing is where it’s at.

You’ll be outdoors in all weather, need to know your way around a lawn mower and a string trimmer, and, ideally, you’ll have a season of farm work under your belt and know how to drive a standard transmission vehicle (don’t have those things, but think you have what it takes? Get out of your own way and make your case!)

We are a small but mighty (and occasionally mighty silly) crew of people who care about our farm and the land. We hope you’ll join us.
