Hiring: Greenhouse Assistant – Atlas Farm

Atlas Farm is a 95-acre, certified organic, vegetable farm located in Deerfield, MA. We grow and market produce year-round through wholesale accounts, farmers’ markets and our own retail farm store. The greenhouse assistant is a full-time, year-round position at the farm and plays a critical role in the farm’s greenhouse production. The primary focus of this position is assisting in the operation and management of the farm’s 6 greenhouses and 4 high tunnel structures and all production related activities in these areas, especially during the main greenhouse season from March through July. During the other months of the year, the greenhouse assistant may also participate in other areas of the farm including field production, harvest and packing house work, and building projects.

Daily job responsibilities include:

• maintaining seeding and transplanting schedules
• assisting with the management of a crew of 4-6 workers in greenhouse related tasks
• monitoring crop needs including fertility, water, pest management
• and climate control and coordinating with the greenhouse manager on crop management tasks in these areas

The schedule for this position averages approximately 45 hours/ week over the calendar year with seasonal highs and lows. The typical schedule is 5 1/2 – 6 days/week (6am-6pm) during the main greenhouse season from March through July, 5 days/week from August through October (6am-5pm), and 4 days/week from November-February (8am-4pm).
