Hiring: Herdsperson Barstow’s Longview Farm

Herdsperson
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Herdsperson to join our team. As a Herdsperson, you will be responsible for the care and management of our herd, ensuring their health and well-being. This is a physically demanding role that requires strong animal handling skills and a passion for working with livestock.

Duties:
– Provide daily care of the herd, including monitoring their health and behavior
– Perform routine tasks such as cleaning and sanitizing barns, stalls, and equipment
– Assist with breeding programs, including artificial insemination and pregnancy checks
–  Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian
– Maintain accurate records of herd health, breeding, and production data
– Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment not a must but would help

Qualifications:
– Previous experience working with animals, preferably in a farm or agricultural setting is a plus
– Knowledge of livestock care practices is a plus
– Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and repairs is a plus
– Ability to handle large animals safely and efficiently
– Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual labor
– Familiarity with veterinary procedures is a plus
– Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
– Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
– Taking care of newborn calves, birthing protocols and care of the cow.

Note: This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour (or more with experience)
Expected hours: 45 – 55 per week
