Hiring: Horticulture Assistant at Quonquont Farm

Are you the kind of person who takes pride in creating beautiful things from scratch? Do you amaze your friends with your green thumb and your knowledge of plant names? Well, if you are also the kind of person who so craves a sense of order that you quietly straighten crooked pictures and you can get carried away doing mindless tasks for hours on end, we might just have the perfect job for you!

Our full-time, seasonal (mid-April through mid-October) horticulture assistant will help us maintain, not just Quonquont Farm’s lovely grounds and gardens, but also our cut flower field—200 varieties of flowers, from asters to zinnias! You’ll help us care for our crops throughout the growing season, harvest flowers for farm events, arrange bouquets for our farm store and subscriptions, and get into the daily nitty gritty of keeping the fields running and the lawns clipped.

You’ll be outdoors in all weather, need to know your way around a lawn mower and a string trimmer, and, ideally, you’ll have some type of degree or industry certificate in ornamental horticulture or botany (don’t have that, but think you have what it takes? Get out of your own way and make your case!)

We are a small but mighty (and occasionally mighty silly) crew of people who care about our farm and the land. We hope you’ll join us.

Please check out our website for more information on responsibilities and requirements.

Position starts mid April and continues through mid October.

Compensation: $19-$22 per hour, paid time off

To apply, please submit email and cover to Nicole Hayduk at flowers@quonquont.com
