Who we are: Fungi Ally is an organic mushroom farm located in Hadley, MA. We produce 1000 mushroom bags per week and are doubling our production by summer of 2018. We sell about 500 lbs of fresh mushrooms weekly to farmers markets, CSAs, institutions, co-ops, and distributors. We also distribute ready-to-fruit mushroom blocks to other farms that would like to grow mushrooms. We have a crew of four people and expect our employees to be involved with all aspects of the farm and be capable of working well in a team.

Who we’re looking for: Self-directed workers with ability to communicate and interest in growing with the business. Attention to detail is a must, as well as a balance between speed and quality. This is a full-time and fast-paced position which requires standing for long periods of time and lifting 25-50 lbs at a time. Reliable transportation is required, as we are not located on the bus route.

Desired skills: Food production experience, farm and/or warehouse experience, experience working in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.

Available positions: Both positions have overlap and involve general various farm work. This will be a full-time opportunity to work on a mushroom farm and learn all aspects of the business. You can expect to spend work hours harvesting fresh mushrooms, packing/fulfilling orders for delivery, mixing substrate, working in the lab, delivering orders, removing contamination, and plenty of other tasks that come up during the year. We are a year-round production farm and there is plenty of opportunity to continue with the business.

Grow room manager: Oversees our two grow rooms full of fruiting mushroom blocks. Focus on harvesting mushrooms and moving large quantities of mushroom blocks in and out of the grow rooms to ensure optimum harvest. Includes picking and sorting of mushrooms, bending and climbing ladders, and cleaning/sanitizing equipment and grow rooms.

Lab manager: Maintains a sterile lab environment for mushroom inoculation. Oversees line work of inoculating bags with mushroom spawn, operating bag sealer, and shelving sealed bags. Cleans and sanitizes equipment and production area. Involvement with a recent grant growing Cordyceps mushrooms
