APR Improvement Program and Growing Your Farm Business – Program Coordinator

This contract employee position is responsible for the coordination of a business planning course and a viability grant program for protected farms that support farm business development through the provision of business and financial training, technical assistance, and capital funding for farm improvements.  The position requires an understanding of the agricultural industry in Massachusetts and personal interaction with farmers to understand and support their needs in order to implement these programs that have meaningful and significant impacts on the viability of individual farms and the agricultural economy. 

This position reports to the Viability and Agricultural Business Trainings Programs Manager who is based in the West Springfield office.  Position duties vary throughout the year within a range of 15-25 hours per week with a flexible schedule during the week to combine work at home office with visits to MDAR office and field work as needed.  An hourly rate of $35/hour, depending on experience, is expected for this contract employee position, for 48- 50 weeks over the course of the year.
