NEPM: Boyden Brothers Maple

“My grandfather always said, sugaring gets the men and horses in shape for summer,” says Howard Boyden of Boyden Brothers Maple in Conway. Boyden estimates that his family has been tapping a lot of the same trees for over 100 – 120 years. The sugarbush entails about 3500 trees.

Howard and his wife, Jeanne, make over 1000 gallons of syrup a year. Jeanne makes maple candies year-round. The couple is being inducted into the Inernational Maple Hall of Fame this spring for their contributions to the promotion of maple.
