Fern Valley Farms

Welcome to Fern Valley Farms! We are a family-owned pick-your-own apple orchard, nestled in the hills of Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Come visit us to gather a bushel of apples and enjoy the breathtaking views of the valley while listening to talented local musicians. In addition to pick-your-own apples each September, we offer a summer concert series complete with food and local brewery Field Crest Brewing Company. We also offer the opportunity to rent our grounds for events, weddings, and special occasions. Additionally, Fern Valley Farms maintains multiple hay fields in town, and offers both first and second cut hay for sale. Finally, we offer tree trimming, limbing, storm cleanup and a variety of other tree services in Wilbraham and surrounding towns.

Fern Valley Farms has a rich history of family heritage and honest, hard work. The Rice Family of Wilbraham originally established the orchard in 1894, when it served as a source of wholesale apples for many local grocery stores. Many community residents worked the orchard, helping to prune trees and pick apples every season.

In 2016, Dan Fernandes and his father, Bill, took an interest in the orchard while traveling through to access the Wilbraham Nature Preserve to cut and bale hay. Father and son, along with help from hard-working friends, worked to clean up the overgrown orchard. In 2017 Dan purchased the orchard and opened it to public for pick-you-own. In the years since, the Fernandes family has worked tirelessly to beautify the orchard and create a gathering place in Western Massachusetts.

Fern Valley has become a hidden gem, where families and friends come to make memories every summer and fall.

Fern Valley Farms offers a variety of fun events throughout the year, including our Summer Concert Series, which features all local musicians. Beginning on July 15, we are open on Saturdays and Sundays 3pm – 8pm. We offer food such as burgers, made from locally raised beef, fries, chicken tenders, ice cream, and more! Gather around the fire pit to roast s’mores as well, while enjoying stunning sunsets. Hop on the tractor ride to see every corner of the orchard! Also, don’t forget to say hello to the Fern Valley goats!

Pick-Your-Own Apples begins the first week of September and runs through mid-October! Our farm currently offers the following varieties: Macintosh, Early Mac, Gala, Empire, Ginger Gold, Macoun, Red Delicious, and Spencer. Various varieties are ready to be picked at different times in the season, so check our social media to see what’s ready to go!
