SNAP Sign Up Day For Farmers and Farmers’ Market Managers

June 15, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

At the drop-in information session you can:

  • Get your farm, farm stand or farmers’ market authorized for SNAP (formerly food stamps) and receive you FNS Number the very same day! USDA staff will be on site to walk you through the process and assist with your application;
  • Find out about, and sign up for, low cost wireless equipment options from MarketLink to process SNAP payments (as well as credit/debit); and
  • Get answers to your SNAP questions and learn about other resources available.

If you intend on getting an FNS (SNAP) number, please bring copies of the following documents which will be attached to your application:

  1. Picture ID (driver’s license or passport)
  2. Social Security Card (or other official document with your name and SSN)
  3. Copy of voided check for bank account you will use to deposit funds.

 

Documentation for Not for Profits & Government Sponsored Farmers’ Markets:

If you represent a farmers market operated by a not for profit organization or a government operated farmers market, the following information may be provided as an alternative to submitting copies of your social security card:

  • Not for Profits: A copy of the IRS Determination letter that states that the Not for Profit agency is a federally tax exempt 501c agency/organization.
  • Not for Profits:  If the Market Manager is signing the application – A letter from the Not for Profit agency stating they are sponsoring the farmers market and they have appointed the Market Manager as their legal representative. (USDA prefers to have a Board Member sign the application.)
  • Government Sponsored Farmers Market: A letter from the Government agency stating they are sponsoring the Farmers’ Market and who they have appointed as their legal representative.
