Wild Edible Plant Walk and Tasting at Bug Hill Farm

June 29, 2014 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Come for a stroll around the farm’s biodiverse meadows, woods and wetlands as we meet, greet, and treat ourselves to seasonal wild edibles.  Discover what a “clear cut” area looks like after several years of regeneration and find out who lives there now by learning to identify native pollinators and their associated native and introduced plants.  Begin or continue a field sketchbook with some expert guidance from renowned botanical illustrator Beverly Duncan, who graciously donated her original artwork for Bug Hill Farm’s new labels.

Following the walk, we will taste delectable cooked preparations in our farm kitchen, refresh ourselves with fruit “shrubs” (sipping vinegars) and then visit the farm’s store to enjoy complimentary samples of value-added farm products crafted from flowers and all local fruit.

Who: Our friends from Acorn Kitchen (www.wearewildfood.com), UMass entomologist Jarrod Fowler, the team at Bug Hill Farm and Ashfield-based illustrator, designer, author and teacher Beverly Duncan.

When: June 29 from Noon – 4pm (Walk starts at 12:30pm)

Cost: Your contributions accepted for continuing our educational workshops and supporting our younger collaborators and workshop leaders.

* Rain date Sunday, July 6.
