NEPM: Hager’s Farm Market
Claire, Kaliis, and Monte visit Hager’s Farm Market in Shelburne Falls. Chip and Sherry Hager grew up farming in Franklin County, and have been married for 50 years. Since 2009, the market has expanded beyond what the family grows on their farm to include over 50 local food purveyors.
Sited on a small apple orchard, the family grows peaches, pears, blueberries and raspberries on the Route 2 farm. Chef Henry makes all homemade meals to go and other treats. The family harvests maple on their Colrain farm, and they make their own maple soft-serve. The market accepts SNAP & HIP.
“We want to grow a quality product, be sustainable, and sell at a price that is fair for both us and the customer,” says Chip Hager.
