NEPM: Senior FarmShare
Claire, Monte, and Kaliis head to Dave’s Natural Garden to discuss CISA’s Senior Farm Share program with Andy Rogers, of the South Hadley Council of the Aging.
Dave’s Natural Garden is growing shares for participants in the program at the South Hadley Senior Center.
CISA’s Senior Farm Share program provides low-income seniors with ten weeks of farm fresh fruits and vegetables purchased directly from local farms.
Eligible seniors sign up in the spring to receive weekly shares of freshly harvested local produce, distributed through senior service agencies in Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden counties. Seniors commit to the program for the duration, and pay a cost share of one dollar per week in exchange for ten weeks of produce.
In 2026, the Senior Farm Share Program will serve 800 low-income seniors through 21 distribution sites and 16 farms. Since 2004, Senior Farm Share has distributed over 9,300 season-long shares and paid over $1 million to local farms for their produce.
