HADLEY — On Thursday, June 22, Whole Foods Market in Hadley will host a 5 percent Community Giving Day to benefit food security nonprofits in the Pioneer Valley.
The store will donate 5 percent of that day’s sales split between Greenfield-based Just Roots and South Hadley-based Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
“Just Roots is proud to partner with Whole Foods Market as we work to increase access to healthy, local food, to support small farms and to build the health of our community together,” said Jessica Van Steensburg, executive director of Just Roots in a press release. “Just Roots was built on the generosity and vision of our community so it feels especially fitting to be the recipient of a day of giving — where all gifts matter, and we can all make a difference. We are grateful to Whole Foods Market for their support of local organizations and we hope many people will come out to shop, learn and contribute.”
“We are deeply grateful for the support of Whole Foods Market in helping us distribute fruits and produce to the South Hadley and Granby families in need,” said Karen Motyka, executive director of Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
Volunteers and staff from Just Roots and Neighbors Helping Neighbors will be at the store from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday to thank customers for shopping and discuss how their programs are working to alleviate food insecurity in the Pioneer Valley.
