NEPM: West Granville Blueberries

This week, the #fabulous413 head to Granville in pursuit of blueberries!

As if maple syrup and pancakes at Maple Corner Farm aren’t sweet enough, the Ripley family grows blueberries in their patch at West Granville Blueberries. The farm offers pick-your-own blueberries at 448 North Lane, in Granville, MA from mid-July – mid-September, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm daily.

Monte and Kaliis chat with Leon and David Ripley, 6th and 7th generation farmers on the land, and now the 8th generation of Ripleys are starting to work on the farm. Fun fact: Long ago, the Ripley family came from Hingham, England and Governor Bradford’s son married a Ripley. In 1835, John B. Ripley settled the Granville homestead.

The farm has evolved from a horse-drawn and oxen-powered farm through the early tractors, right up to modern vehicles and equipment. Listen to learn how the weather patterns are changing, impacting both maple syrup and blueberries.
