Businesses strengthen local agriculture

Deerfield — Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture (CISA) has announced the winners of its 2014 Local Hero Awards: Adams Farm, an Athol slaughterhouse; Maple Corner Farm, a diversified farm in Granville; and Squash Inc., a food distribution business based in Belchertown.

Each year, CISA presents Local Hero Awards to farms, businesses, or individuals who exemplify its mission of strengthening farms and engaging the community to build the local food economy.
