Donate today to help local farm workers’ hurricane recovery

If you love local food, you know just how much local farms, our local food systems, and each of us rely on the people who work on local farms. Here’s a chance to give back to those who help put food on our tables!

Many local farm workers from Jamaica are in great need of support in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, which devastated dozens of our local farm workers’ homes, farms, and communities in their home country. Two weeks later, some communities in the western part of the country are still experiencing flooding and over a third of all residents still lack electricity.

A significant number (~5%) of local farm workers are from Jamaica, spending half of each year in our community as seasonal workers on local farms before heading home every fall to Jamaica. Several local farms have set up fundraisers to directly benefit their workers, so they have some assistance as they return home this fall to devastated homes and communities.
