Poultry Processing and Butchering 101

Join Stillman’s Quality Meats at the farm for a hands-on day of poultry processing and butcher education. In this workshop participants will be guided through a safe and humane demonstration on poultry slaughter. Participants will then learn about poultry anatomy followed by a hands-on butcher demo, in which participants will get to cut up and take home their own chicken. There will be a discussion about the best way to cut up a chicken, different cuts and cooking methods. You will be a “spatch-cocking master”!

This is a hands-on workshop in a farm/processing environment. Participants should plan to bring suitable clothing (you will be getting dirty), an apron, a sharp kitchen knife, cutting board and willingness to learn! Participants will take home a freshly butchered chicken, including an SQM goodie bag. Additionally all participants will receive 10% off purchases made at the farm that day.

The class will be followed by a 100% LOCAL farm lunch with bounty from the farm and surrounding farm community.
