School Food Service Workshop and Networking Session

Join food service directors and staff from schools across Franklin County/North Quabbin and beyond to learn about ways to support healthy, successful students through school food, and to connect with peers and partners!

Local Food Procurement Training: (Peter McLoughlin, Department of El-ementary and Secondary Education) : This session will discuss the basics of incor-porating agriculture and locally procured foods in your National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. We will cover: defining local and where to find local foods, procurement principles and regulations, procurement methods, geographic preference, and forward contracts.

Culinary Skills Training & Demo: (Chef Sam Icklan, Project Bread, Chefs in Schools Program) Chef Sam will respond to your questions and challenges (see registration form) and demo 1-2 popular tried and tested recipes from his work in schools.

Networking and Resource Tables: talk with staff from other schools, local farmers, small scale food
aggregators, and others!
