This week, Monte, Kaliis and Claire dropped by the Woodstar Cafe in Northampton for coffee and conversation about local sourcing at the cafe. They visited with owner, Mark Krause, who bought Woodstar in 2023. Woodstar was the primary baker for all breads and pastries served at Esselon Cafe, now also owned by Krause. When Woodstar became available, Krause purchased it to keep the menu consistent at Esselon.
Woodstar sources local ingredients, including roast beef made by Sutter Meats, flour from Ground Up Grain, and local produce as the seasons unfold. Esselon coffee served at both locations is fair-trade, and most is organic.
